The year is 1856. The Swiss horological industry is enjoying one of its earliest booms. Watchmaker Jules-Samuel Jequier, born in 1835 in Fleurier, joins Bovet after training as a jewel-cutter and quickly climbs up the company ladder. In 1858, he founds Arcadia and positions it as the top-ofthe-line among the five watchmaking brands of the Fleurier Watch Company, a manufacturer specialized in jewelcutting and designing watch calibers which had watchmaking farmers working cooperatively.
Arcadia was a creative, avant-garde brand infused with the period’s contemporary vision and became the flagship of the Fleurier Watch Company.
